The main topic of conversation of this week's podcast is our cat. Probably because she's not with us for a while, as we were away for a weekend and are in the middle of packing to move house.
In between wrapping things in protective materials we'll be going to see Christine & The Queens perform on Friday and we have a disagreement (and a bet) on the language she'll be singing in. We'll report back next week on who was right.

It was again a slower week at Casa Bliss, as Caroline was struck down by illness (there's some coughing on this episode). We discuss Harper's collection of short stories, In the Arms of a Woman, which comes out on 11 October and our rush to get Pink Bean 9 ready for the editor. Harper also discovered the hotness of the narrator of the audio version of French Kissing, but it wasn't enough to get her to listen to it for more than 2 minutes.
In television news, we've been watching even more than usual because of the aforementioned illness. Our shows of the week are both BBC dramas currently playing: Press and Wanderlust. But the goal of the upcoming week is to watch less television. We'll see how that goes.

It was a difficult week in the Bliss household. A tragic event in Harper's family and a cold made it hard for her to write. She found some comfort in listening to this podcast, so at least we have one happy listener.
We watched the finale of Bodyguard, which we can't discuss too much because of spoilers, but most of our television talk this week is about our two favourite British food related shows: The Great British Bake Off (we have a crush on Rahul) and Celebrity Masterchef (Zoe Lyons can cook for us anytime.)
Harper also discusses a blog post she wrote for the My LesFic blog.

It's been about three months since the last episode of Harper Bliss & Her Mrs. Three months during which we went back and forth about continuing the podcast. In the end we were inspired to get back to it, albeit only in audio, by our new favourite podcast: Fortunately with Fi & Jane. We binge-listened to it during our recent trip to the UK for ELLCon.
In the spirit of our new podcast addiction, we are planning on keeping things more casual, even less structured than before. More like a chit-chat about our week and anything interesting that might have happened (for example seeing Janelle Monáe perform live).
Of course, in this first episode after a prolonged absence, we have to recap our summer and its highlights (our co-written book A Swing at Love and our decision to move house), and talk about our plans for the next few months.

The drama of Harper turning forty has subsided in this eleventh episode of Harper Bliss & Her Mrs, but we are now overcome with World Cup fever. Harper wrote a short story this week and we are almost ready to send our golf romance to the editor.
For the entertainment part of the podcast we talk about a book (The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer) and a movie (Disobedience). Spoiler alert: neither gets rave reviews.
For the topic of the week we discuss how being an indie author means having a business mentality about your financials: knowing where the money comes from and where it goes. We also talk about how you don't need an agent to generate other avenues of income.
